Sean Schenker

Sean Schenker has been training and teaching students in the martial way for nearly 20 years. He holds 3 black belts in 3 separate styles (Shin Nagare, Oyama Kyokushin Kai, Tae Kwon Do). He is a chartered member of nationally affiliated Midori Yama Budokai and Martial Arts USA, which entitles him to open and run martial arts schools anywhere in the world.  He currently teaches students in the Kingston/New Paltz/Rosendale areas. He is also a former Junior Olympic & NY State Champion.

He incorporates skill-based exercises that target areas of strength, balance, coordination and timing – all useful tools to not only effectively grasp the basic concepts of karate, but more importantly, help to instill a sense of self-awareness and self-respect in an individual student.  Sean's background in performance adds to his ability to relate to kids on "their level" - he is nurturing in his guidance of young students, instilling trust through compassion and patience - integral pieces to the ultimate development of technique of a student. Learning to become empowered by the martial arts is a life-long process, and often the first impression a child gets is the one that sticks with them most. Sensei Sean's main objective is to make that first impression a lasting one.
